Various Names of The Last Day

The Last Day, however, has a considerable number of names in the Qur’an. The following are some of such names:

1 – Yawmul-Ba’th ( يوم البعث )
The Day of Resurrection. It is so called because it is a day on which people will rise after death. [Surah Ar-Rum, 30:56]

2 – Yawmul-Khuruj ( يوم الخروج )
The Day of Emergence. People will emerge from their graves to the Hereafter. [Surah Qaf, 50:42]

3 – Yawmul-Qiyamah ( يوم القيامة )
The Day of Standing. People will stand before Allah for accountability. [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:85, 2:113, 2:174, and other various places in the Qur’an]

4 – Yawmud-Din ( يوم الدين )
The Day of Recompense. People will be recompensed for all their deeds on that Day. [Surah Al-Fatihah, 1:4 and others]

5 – Yawmul-Fasl ( يوم الفصل )
The Day of Judgement. People will be justly judged on that Day. [Surah As-Saffat, 37:21 and others]

6 – Yawmul-Hashr ( يوم الحشر )
The Day of Gathering. Allah will gather people for recompense. [Surah Al-Kahf, 18:47 and others]

7 – Yawmul-Jam’ ( يوم الجمع )
The Day of Assembly. People will be assembled before Allah for accountability. [Surah As-Shura, 42:7 and others]

8 – Yawmul-Hisab ( يوم الحساب )
The Day of Accountability. People will be held accountable for their deeds on that Day. [Surah Ibrahim, 14:41 and others]

9 – Yawmul-Wa’id ( يوم الوعيد )
The Day of Threat. Allah will carry out His threats to disbelievers on that Day. [Surah Qaf, 50:20]

10 – Yawmul-Hasrah ( يوم الحسرة )
The Day of Regret. The disbeliever will experience regret on that Day. [Surah Maryam, 19:39]

11 – Yawmul-Khulud ( يوم الخلود )
The Day of Eternity. Life on that Day will be eternal. [Surah Qaf, 50:34]

12 – Ad-Darul-Akhirah ( الدار الأخرة )
The Home of the Hereafter. It is the final destination man reaches, as there will be no other home. [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:72 and others]

13 – Darul-Qarar ( دار القرار )
The Home of Permanent Settlement. People will settle therein eternally without suffering death or experiencing transitions. [Surah Ghafir, 40:39]

14 – Darul-Khuld ( دار الخلد )
The Home of Eternity. The residence on that Day will last forever. [Surah Fussilat, 41:28]

15 – Al-Waqi’ah ( الواقعة )
The Occurrence. It will inevitably occur. [Surah Al-Waqi’ah, 56:1]

16 – Al-Haqqah ( الحاقة )
The Inevitable Reality. It will truly happen and consequently any doubt regarding its occurrence will be refuted. [Surah Al-Haqqah, 69:1]

17 – Al-Qari’ah ( القارعة )
The Striking Calamity. Its clamor will strike ears and hearts. [Surah Al-Qari’ah, 101:1]

18 – Al-Ghashiyah ( الغاشية )
The Overwhelming Event. It will overwhelm the two worlds of jinn and mankind. [Surah Al-Ghashiyah, 88:1]

19 – At-Tammah ( الطامة )
The Great Overwhelming Calamity. It is the greatest and hardest calamity. [Surah An-Nazi’at, 79:34]

20 – Al-Azifah ( الأزفة )
The Approaching Day. Its time is drawing near. [Surah Ghafir, 40:18]

21 – Yawmut-Taghabun ( يوم التغابن )
The Day of Deprivation. This is the Day of mutual loss and gain (i.e. loss for the disbelievers as they will enter the Hellfire and gain for the believers as they will enter Paradise). [Surah At-Taghabun, 64:9]

22 – Yawmut-Tanad ( يوم التناد )
The Day of Calling. Every nation will be summoned with their respective leader. Every one will call upon the other. The people of Paradise will call upon the people of the Hellfire and vice versa, and so will the Companions of Elevations (those on the elevations between Paradise and the Hellfire). [Surah Ghafir, 40:32]

يوم الوقت المعلوم - Yawmul-Waqtil-Ma'loom [Day of The Time Appointed] (15:38)
يوم الحسرة - Yawmul-Hasrah [Day of Distress] (19:39)
يوم عقيم - Yawmun-'Aqeem [Day of Disaster] (22:55)
يوم لا مرد له - Yawmun-Laa Maraddalah [A Day which none can avert it] (30:43)
يوم البعث - Yawmul-Ba'th [Day of Resurrection] (30:56)
يوم الفتح - Yawmul-Fath [Day of Decision] (32:29)
يوم الفصل - Yawmul-Fasl [Day of Sorting Out] (37:21)
يوم الحساب - Yawmul-Hisab [Day of Account] (38:16)
يوم التلاق - Yawmut-Talaaq [Day of Mutual Meeting] (40:15)
يوم الآزفة - Yawmul-Aazifah [The Day That Is Drawing Near] (40:18)
يوم التناد - Yawmut-Tanaad [The Day When There Will Be Mutual Calling] (40:32)
يوم الجمع - Yawmul-Jam'i [Day of Gathering] (42:7)
يوم الوعيد - Yawmul-Wa'eed [Day of Warning] (50:20)
يوم الخلود - Yawmul-Khulood [Day of Eternal Life] (50:34)

الطآمة الكبرى - At-Taammatul-Kubra [The Greatest Catostrophe] (79:34)
