The Moment by Moment Creation of Matter is One of The Greatest Signs of Our Lord
It has been shown by the existing physical laws and scientific research that our Lord created matter moment by moment. The flawlessness, perfect balance and detailed arrangements in the creation of the universe are one of the proofs of our Lord’s omniscience and matchless Creation.
The Big Bang theory clearly reveals that Allah created the universe from nothing. This great explosion is full of fine calculations and is so detailed that it causes one to reflect that it cannot be explained as a matter of pure chance.
The temperature at every moment of the explosion, the number of atomic particles, the forces entering into operation at that moment and the intensities of those forces need to possess highly sensitive values. Failure to achieve even one of those values would mean the universe we inhabit today could not have come into being. A change in any one of these values - even at a level approaching mathematical “0” - would be sufficient for the Big Bang to have never happened at all.
In the Wake of the Big Bang.
The universe and its building blocks, atoms, began coming into being from nothing in the wake of this great explosion thanks to the balances created by Allah. Scientists have carried out unlimited research into the perfect timing of the events that took place during this and the nature of the physical laws involved in that timing. The facts agreed on by all the scientists who have studied the subject are these:
→ "0" moment; This “moment” when there was no matter and time, and when this explosion took place is regarded in physics as the moment when t (time) = 0. In other words, when t=0, nothing exists. In order to describe what preceded this “moment” when creation began, we need to know the laws of physics existing at that moment because the laws of physics that exist now do not apply in the first moments of the explosion.
Events that physics can describe begin as of 10-43 seconds, the smallest unit of time; this is too small for the human mind to conceive. So what happened in this brief space of time we cannot even imagine? Physicists have so far been unable to produce a theory that can explain all the details of the events that occurred because scientists lack the materials with which to perform calculations. Descriptions of the laws of mathematics and physics are impacted at this threshold. In other words, both the time before this explosion built on the most delicate of balances and its initial moments possess a creation that surpasses human understanding.
This creation that began when there was no time allowed for the moment by moment appearance of the material universe and the laws of physics. Let us now have a look at the events that occurred with great sensitivity in a very short space of time in this explosion:
At this moment of creation, the temperature was 1032(100,000,000,000,000,000.-000,000,000,000,000) K. To make a comparison, the heat of the Sun is expressed in millions (108) and that of stars far larger than the Sun in billions (1011). The highest temperatures we have been able to detect so far is limited to billions of degrees, although it is possible to give an idea of how great the temperature was at moment 10-43.
→ When time moved forward from 10-43 seconds to 10-37: The period between these points is not a moment like one or two seconds. We are speaking of one quadrillion- quadrillionth of a second. The temperature was again at the extraordinary level of 1029(100,000,000,-000,000,000,000,000,000,000) K. Atoms had not yet been created.
→ Up to 10-2 seconds: This time frame expresses one hundredth of a second. The temperature at this point is 100 billion degrees. The “first universe” began being shaped at this point. There were still no particles such as protons and neutrons that constitute the nucleus of the atom. All there at that moment were electrons and their opposites, positrons (anti-electrons) because the temperature and velocity of the universe at that moment permitted these particles to form. Electrons and positrons came into being in less than one second since the explosion began.
The question of at which moment every atomic particle will form after this moment is very important because every particle needs to appear at a special moment in order for the present laws of physics to emerge. The question of which particle will form first is vitally important. The slightest deviation in this sequence or timing would make it impossible for the universe to exist in its present form.
→ After 10-1 seconds: The temperature at this point is around 30 billion degrees. Still less than a second has passed since t=0. However, the other components of the atom, protons and neutrons, have begun to appear. Neutrons and protons were created in a shorter space of time than has gone by since nothing.
→ The 1st second after the explosion: When we look at the density of the mass at this time we again encounter an huge and extraordinary figure; it is calculated that the density of the mass existing at this moment is 3.8 billion kilograms a liter. It is easy to determine this figure expressed as billions of kgs mathematically and to put it down on paper. However, it is still impossible to fully conceive this value. To give a simple example to make it easier to express the size of this figure, we may say that, "If the tip of Mount Everest in the Himalayas had that density, the force of gravity it would acquire could swallow our world up in a moment.”
→ Between 1 and 3 seconds: The main distinguishing feature of this period is that temperature is now at quite a low value. The universe is now around 14 seconds old, with a temperature of 3 billion degrees, and is continuing to expand at an enormous speed.
This is when atomic nuclei such as hydrogen and helium begin to form. In other words, for the first time, there was an environment in which a proton and neutron could stand side by side. These two particles with masses between existing and non-existing set up an extraordinary gravitational force and began opposing that vast velocity of expansion. The process is clearly a conscious and controlled one. A great balance and an extraordinarily sensitive order forms after an inconceivable explosion. Protons and neutrons began to come together and form the atom, the building block of matter. Yet it is of course impossible for these particles to possess the power and consciousness with which to establish the sensitive balances required in order to give rise to matter.
In the period that followed this, the temperature of the universe dropped to one billion degrees. That is still 60 times the temperature of our Sun. Three minutes and two seconds have now passed since the outset. Subatomic particles such as the proton, anti-proton, neutrino and anti-neutrino are now in the majority. The number of, and interactions between, all the particles existing in this period is critical; the slightest variation in the number of any particle will compromise the energy levels determined by them and prevent the conversion of energy into matter. The number of particles emerging after the Big Bang has been determined with fine calculations, and the material universe was able to form as a result. Prof. Steven Weinberg emphasizes the critical nature of the interaction between these particles as follows:
If the universe in the first few minutes was really composed of precisely equal numbers of particles and antiparticles, they would all have annihilated as the temperature dropped below 1,000 million degrees, and nothing would be left but radiation. There is a very good evidence against this possibility – we are here! There must have been some excess of electrons over positrons, of protons over antiprotons, and of neutrons over antineutrons, in order that there would be something left over after the annihilation of particles and antiparticles to furnish the matter of the present universe (Steven Weinberg, The First Three Minutes, A Modern View of the Origin of the Universe, Basic Books, June 1993, p.87)
→ The first 34 minutes 40 seconds: Our universe is now half an hour old. The temperatures have dropped by billions of degrees. Electrons and positrons continue to produce energy by colliding. The number of particles that will give rise to atoms is now balanced in such a way as to permit the formation of the material universe. The rate of expansion has decreased relatively, and these particles with almost no mass have begun interacting with one another. The first hydrogen atom forms when an electron enters into the orbit of a proton. In this way, we have become acquainted with all the fundamental forces we see in the universe.
The Creator of All Who Regulates and Controls the Universe Is Almighty Allah
Creation can be seen, not only in the atom, but in all bodies small and large in the universe. These particles that broke away from one another at the speed of light at the beginning did not stop at producing hydrogen atoms. They also gave rise to all the glorious systems contained within the universe, other atoms, molecules, planets, suns, solar systems, galaxies, quasars etc., within a glorious plan, with measure and balance, one after the other. While it is impossible for the particles needing to combine together to form a single atom and set up delicate balances did so by chance, it is totally irrational and illogical to claim that planets and galaxies, in short all the systems that permit the functioning in the universe, came about one by one by chance. This matchless design belongs to Allah, Creator of all the universe. Stephen Hawking explains that these events are built on far more delicate balances that we can understand:
“If the rate of expansion one second after the big bang had been smaller by even one part in a hundred thousand million million, the universe would have re collapsed before it ever reached its present size” (Stephen Hawking, A Brief History of Time, p.9)
The Big Bang based on such fine calculations clearly reveals that time, space and matter did not come into being spontaneously, and that everything was created by Allah. This is indicated in a verse:
“He has made night and day subservient to you, and the sun and moon and stars, all subject to His command. There are certainly Signs in that for people who use their intellect.” (Surat an-Nahl, 12)
An order, the immutable laws we refer to as the “laws of physics,” emerged in the wake of a huge explosion, from which great disorder and irregularity might normally be expected. This proves that every moment of the creation of the universe, including the Big Bang, possesses a flawless order.
Perfection in creation can only achieved by The One who is All Encompassing -
Perfection Is an Outcome Shown by Science and Prevails in All Living Structures
Darwinist claims have always been anything but scientific, and they have always used mere demagoguery and false evidence to prop their theories up. They deceive people by employing terminology that has nothing to do with the subject at hand, simply producing words without saying anything scientific at all. These are well-known evolutionist characteristics. But there has recently been another addition to Darwinists’ demagoguery.
Terms such as “perfect, magnificent, flawless,” used to emphasize the superior aspects of the structures in living things, alarm Darwinists. They respond by saying things like, “These are not scientific terms, they are personalized terms; there is no such thing as a perfect cell. What criteria are involved?”
The reason is this: Darwinists are aware that they cannot account in terms of the theory of evolution for the extraordinary order and behavior in living things, such as the golden ratio, symmetry, division of labor or planning. Their latest feeble move, a defense mechanism, is to attack these terms. In short,Darwinists are in such a wretched position as to suggest that the use of these terms is improper.
Why do Darwinists reject the concept of “perfection”?
“Perfection” is a scientific term because living structures exhibit a perfection that exceeds human abilities and sometimes even human comprehension. For example, the stages involved in plant photosynthesis are still not yet fully understood. no machine capable of making photosynthesis has thus far ever been constructed. We still do not fully understand how tiny birds weighing just a few grams can migrate thousands of kilometers, how they navigate, and where they obtain the strength to do this. The majestic nature of the order within the bee hive, how the regular hexagons in the honeycomb came about and the glory of the ventilation system in termite nests are all absolutely stunning.
In fact, Darwinists know perfectly well that the features in living things are perfect and that they cannot explain them in terms of evolution. But they still do all they can to reject the concept of “perfection.” The sole reason for this is that, in their eyes, it is impossible for there to be perfection in a structure they maintain came about by chance.
Chance cannot produce perfection. It cannot understand symmetry or the golden ratio. It cannot give rise to entire systems that engage in a division of labor at the molecular level, take precautions, leave no deficiencies and test for, and even correct, errors. All chance can produce is either nothing, or else deformed, twisted, irregular, crippled and sickly structures. That is why Darwinists are so alarmed by the use of words such as “perfect,” “extraordinary” and “flawless.”
The truth is clear, even if Darwinists try to hide from it
The fact that Darwinists try to avoid with their policy of silencing argument is this:
• Proteins serve very different functions inside the cell. Every protein knows where to go and what to do at the moment it comes into being. One enfolds DNA, another indicates the location of the code in protein synthesis, one becomes a hormone and permits communication while another becomes an enzyme and catalyzes reactions. Darwinists can never succeed in performing one of the jobs of one of the thousands of proteins inside the cell. FURTHERMORE, THEY CAN NEVER EXPLAIN HOW A SINGLE PROTEIN MIGHT HAVE FORMED. Such a structure that so exceeds human abilities is, in a word, perfect.
• DNA is a work of art. Some two meters long and divided into 46 chromosomes, it is folded into the cell nucleus a mere one to two microns in size using the most complex folding technique in the world. It is enzymes and proteins that do this folding. If Darwinists claim there is no perfection in this, then they have to be able to do something similar, or at least make a copy of it.
• The chloroplast inside a leaf performs photosynthesis, the mechanism of which we still do not fully understand, with an amazing expertise. If Darwinists maintain that this system is not perfect, they need to be able to make a copy or to be able to do something similar.
• A moon fish living in Antarctica can survive at temperatures as low as minus 56 degrees and dive down to great depths. Yet it is unaffected by sudden and intense changes in pressure, because in contrast to many mammals, its respiratory tract is flat-oval in shape, rather than round, and is capable of immediately closing under high pressure. It can also close its lungs instantaneously. This characteristic is perfection.
• A seed can store and never forget all the information for a flower, a fruit or a tree. If Darwinists claim there is no perfection in this, then they need to explain how the seed can store all this information and how it can be preserved for hundreds or even thousands of years.
• A hummingbird’s heart beats between 500 and 1,200 times per minute throughout the day. At night, however, it slows down so much that its heartbeat literally stops, and the bird seems not to be breathing at all. These birds expend more energy, for their size, then a modern passenger jet. If we were to expend an equivalent amount of energy, our body temperature would rise to 400 degrees and we would have to consume 45 kilos of sugar every day in order to meet that energy need. It is wondrous how this tiny animal does what is impossible for a human being.
• Darwinists need to be able to account for a bat’s sonar system, bees’ navigational abilities, a bacteria’s ability to perform chemical separation, the way a scorpion can withstand ultraviolet rays, the way a salamander can renew its own organs and all the countless characteristics in living things, in terms of evolution. But since they cannot do that, living things possess superior structures to human beings and these are all amazing properties. And these show us “perfection, glory and flawlessness.”
A Response to Darwinists Who Refuse to Admit the Secret of the Creation of Life on Earth:
Why do some life forms have a sonar system, and others not?
This is the kind of question that Darwinists, who are unwilling to admit the secret of the creation of life on Earth, frequently resort to.
The answer is this: The dolphin that possesses sonar is superior, in this respect, to human beings. Or a salamander that renews its organs is superior to humans in this regard.
In the same way there are perfections in the human body, some structures superior to those of humans have been created in other life forms. But Allah is the Creator of all different properties. If Allah wished, He could create them all in one single living thing. And that is indeed how the creation in paradise will be. People will possess all kinds of attributes, superiority, flawlessness and immortality in paradise. It is sufficient to know of the dolphin’s sonar to appreciate the sublimity of Allah. It is sufficient to know that the salamander renews its own organs to appreciate that Allah is mighty enough to do this. The absence of these properties in humans is because they are tested in this world.
People will be tested with deficiencies and will thus desire paradise, or flawlessness, to put it another way. To fail to see the purpose here and say, “There are flaws in this world, nothing is flawless,” means to fail to appreciate the reason for the creation of man. The greatest proof we are given about Allah’s creative artistry is the perfection we see just about everywhere in the universe. We can see from this evidence that our Almighty Creator is powerful enough to do all things, that He will create the entity He wishes with the superior qualities He wishes, and that he will create all these and more in paradise.
Perfections are a great blessing for us. Perfections are facts shown us by science. Perfections only disturb Darwinists because every perfection undermines the theory of evolution. Every new marvel that emerges as science advances will continue to undermine the theory of evolution, and Darwinists will continue to be troubled by these perfections. What we of course wish, is for them, too, to delight in these perfections and properly and sincerely appreciate our Almighty Lord, the Creator of all things.
How can anyone apart from The All Encompassing Allah keep the universe in absolute harmony ?
Allah keeps the entire universe and the systems in it under his simultaneous control
Almighty Allah created the universe from a single point with a huge explosion.
While all other explosions damage the existing order, the 300 billion galaxies in the universe emerged from zero volume, nothing in other words, with this explosion, known as the Big Bang.
The Milky Way we live in is just one of these 300 billion galaxies.
There are 250 billion stars in the Milky Way. The Sun is one of these 250 billion stars.
The number of stars, such as the Sun, in the visible universe is 1024, a stupendous number, more than a billion times a billion times a billion. Allah has created the Earth as a living space within the boundless universe. We live on a world that occupies almost no place at all within infinity. In fact, not just our Earth but even our galaxy occupies a tiny place in the universe. So just imagine how small a place you yourself occupy in this utterly vast universe.
Every single atom in each of these 1024 stars is under the control of Allah at every moment. Every movement, speed, speed of revolution, the temperatures and distances of and between every planet, every one of the 1024 stars and 300 billion galaxies are all determined in the Sight of Allah and are duly created at every moment. Allah maintains countless balances on Earth at every second, without our ever being aware of them. While a flawless equilibrium is being maintained in the vastness of space, an extraordinary range of extraordinarily complex and perfect processes also takes place within a few seconds in every square millimeters of our bodies. For example;
EVERY SECOND AS YOU WATCH THIS FILM...
About 100 billion processes have taken place in your eyes within a second.
50 million cells in your body have died every second.
50 million new cells have been created every second to replace those that die.
10 million bits of information has been sent from your eyes to your brain every second.
10 million energy molecules, known as Adenosine triphospate, (ATP) have been produced in all your 100 trillion cells, every single second.
In addition, these processes have taken place every single second, not just in your own body, BUT IN THE BODIES OF ALL THE 7 BILLION PEOPLE LIVING ON EARTH AT THIS MOMENT because each of the 100 trillion cells in the bodies of all these 7 billion people is under the control of Allah at every moment.
Are you at all aware of these events taking place inside and around you at every single moment?
The balances maintained at every moment are not only limited to space and the human body;
At the same time, quadrillions of plants, from more than 500,000 species, all make photosynthesis, and oxygen levels are thus arranged in such a way that organisms can remain alive.
WITHIN THE LAST SECOND THAT JUST PASSED BY…
Two million species of animals and plants on the land, under the ground and in the depths of the seas continued their lives through their perfect systems.
100 billion birds from 10,000 species and trillions of fish from 40,000 species have spent that second hunting, migrating or looking after their young. The digestive and respiratory systems of every single one have functioned in perfection. Their bones, muscles, eyes, feet and fins have all performed their tasks just as they should.
For example, this fly has beaten its wings 500 times a second. While it is impossible for a human being to flap his arms 500 times a second, the trillions of flies on Earth have beaten their wings 500 times within the second that just passed by.
Insects whose numbers reach extraordinary figures of 10 quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000), from 1.5 million species, have remained alive through their countless features such as their delicate insect antennae, the chemicals they use to communicate, the poisons they employ for offense and defense and their hunting and camouflage tactics.
It is Almighty and Omniscient Allah, He Who is aware of all things, Who keeps each one of these systems under His control simultaneously.
While many living things in the animal kingdom continue their lives in a flawless manner, with their numbers more than the human mind could conceive;
IN EVERY SECOND THAT PASSES BY...
Every photon coming from the Sun has traveled 300,000 kilometers; and thus colors have formed.
Every second, 16 million tons of water have fallen to Earth as rain.
The Sun, which is one of the 250 billion stars in the Milky Way, which itself is one of the 300 billion galaxies in the universe, has converted 564 tons of hydrogen into 560 million tons of helium and thus provided light and heat for the Earth.
Are you at all aware of these events taking place inside and around you at every moment?
Do you know how many leaves there are on all the trees on Earth?
Or how many atoms there are in every leaf?
Have you ever wondered how many grains of sand there are on and in the world?
Or what the number of raindrops is?
Do you know how many billions of types of animals and plants there are in the world?
Or can you know how many people have lived ever since the time of the Prophet Adam (pbuh), how many are living now, or how many will live up until the Day of Reckoning? Is it at all possible for you to know the number of cells in their bodies, or how many proteins are produced in those cells?
But our Almighty Lord knows all these things we've just counted, and He knows how many planets and asteroids there are in the vastness of outer space, how many stars there are, and how many electrons revolve around the nuclei of their atoms. Each one of these acts occur by the leave of Allah, Lord of the worlds. Allah is Omniscient and He knows all things.
THE GLORIOUS NUMBERS AND DETAILS IN THE HUMAN BODY
• Apart from blood and reproductive cells, all the cells in the body manufacture some 2000 proteins a second. This process takes place in EVERY SINGLE ONE of all the 100 trillion cells of ALL the 7 billion people living today.
• The 100 trillion cells in an adult person’s body produce protein chains that flawlessly organize some 150,000,000,000,000,000,000 (150 quintillion) amino acids every hour. Note this; in order to produce protein chains, every single one of the 100 trillion cells in the bodies of 7 billion people organize 150 quintillion amino acids -a number that the human mind would fail to grasp- every hour.
• During every cell division, DNA, a library that consists of 3 billion letters, 1 million pages and 1000 volumes, is copied. This wondrous process of division takes place with the same perfection in the 100 trillion cells of each and every single one of the 7 billion people living in the world.
• A ribosome can add 20 amino acids to a protein chain every second. Wide-ranging protein synthesis thus takes place uninterruptedly every second in every single one of the 100 trillion cells of all the people in the world.
• There are some 10 billion nerve cells in the brain, and communication between them is established by means of 100 trillion synapses.
• 4 billion information exchanges take place every second between the two hemispheres of the brain. The brain deals with 750 million signals coming from inside and outside the body.
• A single brain cell can transmit more than 200,000 pieces of information at the same time.
• Do you realize that all these processes TAKE PLACE EVERY SECOND IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE 10 BILLION BRAIN CELLS IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE 7 BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH?
• The white blood cells in the veins subject 10 billion cells in the body to health checks every 2 seconds. This check-up has taken place in all the people who have ever lived, and is taking place in the 7 billion people currently living today.
• 500 different chemical processes are carried out in a single liver cell.
• With every breath taken, more than 300 million air sacs in the lungs open and close to admit air into the body. These cells and sacs carry out the same tasks, without exception, in the bodies of ALL THE 7 BILLION PEOPLE that breathe in, every three seconds.
THE MAGNIFICENT NUMBERS AND DETAILS IN NATURE
• The heart of the hummingbird, a tiny bird which has far better hearing than human beings and can see ultraviolet rays, beats 300-1200 times a minute. And the hearts of all the hummingbirds on earth beat 300-1200 times every single minute.
• 40,000 bees have to visit 6 million flowers to make 1 kilo of honey.
• The fastest computers in the world can perform 16 billion arithmetic processes a second. Yet the honey bee can perform 10 trillion processes in the same time while expending less energy.
• Bacteria provides the oxygen we breathe. Cyanobacteria, algae and other micro organisms in the sea give off some 150 billion kilograms of oxygen into the air every year.
• A tiny ant has some 500,000 nerve cells. Thanks to this extraordinary system, ants are able to use very different forms of communication. They are able to perform many activities, such as hunting prey, following one another, building nests and fighting enemies thanks to this special nervous system.
• More snowflakes than can ever be calculated fall from the skies every year, and each one is different than all the others.
Allah has created systems that the human mind cannot fully comprehend, the details of which have still not been discovered. Billions of details have been combined together and provided for people in the finest and most beautiful way. Man can only live by means of his DNA being copied every moment, the breath he takes in, the oxygen he inhales with every breath he takes, his heart that beats every single moment, the Earth that constantly revolves, the food cycle, the water cycle, the nitrogen cycle, all the constantly moving atoms and countless other details.
Thıs is without doubt a very simple matter for Almighty Allah, Who creates from nothing, Who ordains all things as He wishes and Who is mighty enough to create them as He wishes at any time.
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed satan-
The keys of the Unseen are in His possession. No one knows them but Him. He knows everything in the land and sea. No leaf falls without His knowing it. There is no seed in the darkness of the earth, and nothing moist or dry which is not in a Clear Book. (Surat al-An’am, 59)
What people who realize these miracles going on at every moment must do is to reflect on the greatness of Allah, Lord of the worlds and give thanks to Him for every blessing and every beauty. Because as we have been informed in the Qur’an, every person will be called to account for the blessings bestowed on him when the Day of Reckoning comes.
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed satan-
He has given you everything you have asked Him for. If you tried to number Allah’s blessings, you could never count them. Man is indeed wrongdoing, ungrateful. (Surah Ibrahim, 34).
Allah Has Power Over Everything
Allah, the Creator of everything, is the sole possessor of all beings. It is Allah Who heaps up the heavy clouds, heats and brightens the Earth, varies the direction of the winds, holds birds suspended up in the sky, splits the seed, makes a man's heart beat, ordains photosynthesis in plants, and keeps planets in their separate orbits. People generally surmise that such phenomena occur according to "the laws of physics," "gravity," "aerodynamics," or other physical factors; however, there is one significant truth these people ignore: all such physical laws were created by Allah. In fact, the only possessor of power in the universe is Allah.
Allah rules all the systems at any moment in the universe, regardless of whether we are aware of them, or if we are asleep, sitting, walking. Each of the myriad of processes in the universe, all essential to our existence, is under Allah's control. Even our ability to just take a small step forward depends on Allah's Creation in countless minute details, including Earth's force of gravity, the structure of the human skeleton, the nervous system and muscular system, the brain, the heart, and even the rotation speed of the Earth.
Attributing the existence of the world and of the entire universe to sheer coincidence is complete delusion. The exquisite order of the Earth and the universe completely contradicts the possibility of formation through coincidence, and is, rather, a clear sign of Allah's infinite might. For instance, the Earth's orbit around the Sun deviates only 2.8 mm in every 29 kms from the right path. If this deviation were 0.3 mm longer or shorter, then living beings all over the Earth would either freeze or be scorched. While it is virtually impossible for even a marble to revolve in the same orbit without any deviation, the Earth accomplishes such a course despite its gigantic mass. As stated in the Qur'an, "...Allah has appointed a measure for all things..." (Surat at-Talaq: 3). In effect, the splendid order in the universe is maintained as a result of fantastic systems that depend on highly delicate equilibriums.
Some people hold the perverted belief that Allah "created everything and then left them on their own." However, any event, taking place in any area of the universe, occurs solely by Allah's Will, and under His control. It is stated in the Qur'an:
Do you not know that Allah knows everything in heaven and Earth? That is in a Book. That is easy for Allah. (Surat al-Hajj: 70)
It is very important to grasp this fact for someone who strives to come near to Allah. The prayer of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) quoted below is a very good example of this:
O Allah: All the Praises are for You: You are the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth. All the Praises are for You; You are the Maintainer of the Heaven and the Earth and whatever is in them. All the Praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. Your Word is the Truth, and Your Promise is the Truth, and the Meeting with You is the Truth, and Paradise is the Truth, and the (Hell) Fire is the Truth, and the Hour is the Truth. O Allah! I surrender myself to You, and I believe in You and I depend upon You, and I repent to You and with You (Your evidences) I stand against my opponents, and to you I leave the judgment (for those who refuse my message). O Allah! Forgive me my sins that I did in the past or will do in the future, and also the sins I did in secret or in public. You are my only God (Whom I worship) and there is no other God for me (i.e. I worship none but You). (Al-Bukhari)
Elaborate processes taking place in the bodies of living things are impressive examples that help us to grasp Allah's might. For instance, at every moment, your kidneys filter your blood and extricate those harmful molecules to be excreted from the body. This screening and elimination process, which can be carried out by a single kidney cell, can only be accomplished by a giant haemodialyser (artificial kidney). A haemodialyser was consciously designed by scientists. A kidney, however, does not sense, or have a decision-making centre, nor the faculty of thought. In other words, an unconscious kidney cell can accomplish tasks that otherwise demand an elaborate thinking process.
It is possible to encounter millions of such examples in living beings. Molecules, composed of unconscious matter, perform tasks so remarkable they would otherwise suggest consciousness. The consciousness apparent in these cases though is, of course, of Allah's infinite wisdom and knowledge. It is Allah Who created the kidney cells, as well as the molecules discussed, and Who orders them to accomplish their respective tasks. In the Qur'an, Allah informs us that He constantly sends down "commands" to the beings He created:
It is Allah Who created the seven heavens and of the Earth the same number, the Command descending down through all of them, so that you might know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah encompasses all things in His knowledge. (Surat at-Talaq: 12)
Clearly, Allah, Who created everything in the universe, is surely able to bring the dead to life. Of this fact, Allah states the following:
Do they not see that Allah-He Who created the heavens and the Earth and was not wearied by creating them-has the power to bring the dead to life? Yes indeed! He has power over all things. (Surat al-Ahqaf: 33)

Allah's infinite Greatness and Power
Allah created the order of the universe in superb detail to allow man to grasp His greatness. A verse referring to this order reads,"...so that you might know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah encompasses all things in His knowledge." (Surat at-Talaq: 12). Faced with the sublimity of the details of this order, man becomes in awe, recognizing that Allah's wisdom, knowledge and might is infinite.
So expansive is Allah's knowledge that what for us is "infinite" is in His Sight already ended. Every event that has taken place since the creation of time, until deep into eternity, was predetermined and ended in Allah's Sight. (See Timelessness and The Reality of Fate, by Harun Yahya) This is related in the Qur'an as follows:
We have created all things in due measure. Our command is only one word, like the blinking of an eye. We destroyed those of your kind in the past. But is there any rememberer there? Everything they did is in the Books. Everything is recorded, big or small. (Surat al-Qamar: 49-53)
Man must seek to appreciate the extent of Allah's knowledge, and reflect to comprehend His greatness.
Billions of people have appeared on Earth since time immemorial. Therefore, Allah created billions of pairs of eyes, billions of different fingerprints, billions of different eye tissues, billions of different types of humans... If He so willed, He could also create billions more. As stated in the Qur'an, "...He adds to Creation in any way He wills. Allah has power over all things." (Surah Fatir: 1)
Allah also possesses the power to create many other things beyond our limited imagination. The entire extent of the treasures Allah has bestowed in this world for His servants is all within His Sight. He sends down to us only that which He wills, all within a measure predetermined:
There is nothing that does not have its stores with Us and We only send it down in a known measure. (Surat al-Hijr: 21)
This matter, manifested everywhere in Allah's superb Creation, holds true for both that which we know as well as that which we do not. Allah states this fact in the verse, "...and He creates other things you do not know." (Surat an-Nahl: 8), He creates many other things of which we are entirely unaware.
Allah has created many worlds and beings which we cannot see. To better understand the possibility of the existence of other worlds, we should consider the following: a picture is two dimensional-width and length. The world in which we live, however, is 3 dimensional-width, length and depth-(time can be considered as the 4th dimension). The rest is beyond our comprehension. However, in the sight of Allah, there are other dimensions. Angels, for instance, are beings that live in another dimension. In the Qur'an it is stated that angels can see and hear us from the dimension and space in which they exist. Furthermore, the two angels, seated on our either shoulder, each, and at every moment, is recording every word we speak and every deed we do. Yet, we do not see them. Jinn are also beings of another dimension, as we are informed by the Qur'an. They, like us human beings, are also tested, all through their lives, and will ultimately be brought before judgment by Allah. However, they are possessed of completely different attributes than humans; their existence is dependent upon an entirely different system of cause and effect.
These are all facts that deserve careful consideration in order to attain a better grasp of Allah's splendid Creation. It is within Allah's power to create innumerable new worlds, beings and situations. Furthermore, each is He able to create with a limitless degree of differentiation. Indeed, in a nature unknown to us, Allah will create Paradise and Hell. While systems left to their own in this world tend to age, become corrupted, and eventually expire, in Paradise, unaffected by the passage of time, nothing will deteriorate; "rivers of milk whose taste will never change" is an example which states this feature of Paradise. The human body too will not degenerate; nor will anything ever age. As is related in the Qur'an, everyone in Paradise will be of like age, will live together for all eternity, in the best condition, and without growing older or losing their beauty. Allah also informs us in the Qur'an that in it will be bursting springs for us from which to drink. Hell, on the other hand, will be utterly different; in it, Allah will create unimaginable torment. No one will be able to conceive the pain of such torment until he experiences it.
On everything in this world, Allah has placed a limit. Everything has a finite existence. This being the case, in order to comprehend "eternity," and Allah's infinite might, we need to exercise our minds and compare these ideas with something that is familiar. We can only come to know to the extent that Allah permits us. Allah, however, is infinite in knowledge. Let us consider the following example, Allah has created 7 basic colors. It is impossible for us to visualize another color. (The case is similar to describing the color red to someone who is blind by birth; no description would be adequate.) However, Allah is able to create more than these basic colors. Although, unless He so wills, we will never be able to have a grasp that which is beyond what He has willed for us to know.
All that we have just mentioned belongs to that knowledge that Allah has allotted us in this world. But, one point deserves particular attention; because Allah's power and might is infinite, anything can happen, and at any time, by His will. Allah's Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) also referred to the eternal power of Allah when he said, "The seven heavens and the seven Earths are no more in Allah's Hand than a mustard seed in the hand of one of you." Allah explains the infiniteness of His knowledge in the Qur'an as follows:
If all the trees on Earth were pens and all the sea, with seven more seas besides, was ink Allah's words still would not run dry. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. (Surah Luqman: 27)
In brief, no matter how hard we strive to do so, we cannot possibly come to grasp the extent of Allah's knowledge, because it is unlimited. We can comprehend it only as far as Allah permits us to do so:
Allah, there is no god but Him, the Living, the Self-Sustaining. He is not subject to drowsiness or sleep. Everything in the heavens and the Earth belongs to Him. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them but they cannot grasp any of His knowledge save what He wills. His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the Earth and their preservation does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent. (Surat al-Baqara: 255)
