   Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?(88:1)

   When the Occurrence occurs,(56:1)

1. خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ (54:7)

   Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,(54:7)

   (54:7)

2. وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ (36:51)

   And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.(36:51)

   (36:51)

3. يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًۭا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍۢ يُوفِضُونَ (70:43)

   The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.(70:43)

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "My example and the example of the people is that of a man who made a fire, and when it lighted what was around it, Moths and other insects started falling into the fire. The man tried (his best) to prevent them, (from falling in the fire) but they overpowered him and rushed into the fire. The Prophet (ﷺ) added: Now, similarly, I take hold of the knots at your waist (belts) to prevent you from falling into the Fire, but you insist on falling into it."

1. وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ (70:9)

   And the mountains will be like wool, (70:9)

   (70:9)

2. وَيَوْمَ نُسَيِّرُ ٱلْجِبَالَ وَتَرَى ٱلْأَرْضَ بَارِزَةًۭ وَحَشَرْنَٰهُمْ فَلَمْ نُغَادِرْ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًۭا (18:47)

   And [warn of] the Day when We will remove the mountains and you will see the earth prominent, and We will gather them and not leave behind from them anyone. (18:47)

3. أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَٰتٍۢ مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهَا ۚ وَمِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌۢ بِيضٌۭ وَحُمْرٌۭ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهَا وَغَرَابِيبُ سُودٌۭ. (35:27)

   Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and [some] extremely black.(35:27)

   (35:27)

4. وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّى نَسْفًۭا. (20:105)

   And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast. (20:105)

   (20:105)

5. يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا.((73:14)

   On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.(73:14)

   (73:14)

6. وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ. (77:10)

   And when the mountains are blown away(77:10)

   (77:10)

7. وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا (78:20)

   And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.(78:20)

   (78:20)

8. وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ (81:3)

   And when the mountains are removed(81:3)

   (81:3)

9. وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا. (56:5)

   And the mountains are broken down, crumbling (56:5)

   (56:5)

10. وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ (69:14)

    And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow -(69:14)

    (69:14)

11. تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّا أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًۭا.

    (19:90) The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation (19:91) That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son. (19:90-91)

12. لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍۢ لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ خَٰشِعًۭا مُّتَصَدِّعًۭا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ. (59:21)

    If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.(59:21)

Narrated Sulaiman bin Harb: "Hammad bin Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, that the Prophet (ﷺ) recited this Ayah: So when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He made it collapse to dust (7:143) - Hammad said: "Like this." Sulaiman held his thumb over the tip of his finger on the right hand (so that only the tip of one finger was protruding) - and he [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said: "So the mountain fainted. 1. وَٱلْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ (7:8)

   And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. (7:8)

   (7:8)

2. فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ. (23:102)

   And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful.(23:102)

   (23:102)

3. وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌۭ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍۢ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَٰسِبِينَ. (21:47)

   And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.(21:47)

1. Abu Ad-Dardh narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Nothing is heavier on the believer's Scale on the Day of Judgment than good character. For indeed Allah, Most High, is angered by the shameless obscene person."

It was narrated from Umm ad-Darda’, from Abu’d-Darda’ who said: I heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “There is nothing that is placed in the balance that will weigh more heavily than a good attitude (with people); the one who has a good attitude will attain thereby the status of one who fasts and prays.”

   Tirmidhi (2003); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh at-Tirmidhi.

3. Abu'd-Darda' reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Whoever has been given his portion of compassion has been given his portion of good. Whoever is denied given his portion of compassion has been denied his portion of good. Good character will be the weightiest thing in the believer's balance on the Day of Rising. Allah hates a coarse, foul-mouthed person."

Related Aayat

1. وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَظْلِمُونَ (7:9)

   And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses.(7:9)

   (7:9)

2. وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌۭ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍۢ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَٰسِبِينَ. (21:47)

   But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally.(23:103)

4. أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَلِقَآئِهِۦ فَحَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فَلَا نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَزْنًۭا (18:105)

   Those are the ones who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord and in [their] meeting Him, so their deeds have become worthless; and We will not assign to them on the Day of Resurrection any importance (or weight lit. wazn).(18:105)

1. Nawwas bin Sam'an Al-Kilabi said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful. If He wills, He guides it and if He wills, He sends it astray.' The Messenger of Allah used to say: 'O You Who makes hearts steadfast make our hearts steadfast in adhering to Your religion.' Ninety-nine scrolls will be laid out for him, each scroll is as far as the eye can see, then He will say: 'Do you deny any of this? Have those who recorded this wronged you?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' He will say: Do you have an excuse?' He will say: 'No, O Lord!' So He will say: 'Rather you have a good deed with us, so you shall not be wronged today."
