سورة القيامة

Ayat 1

I swear by the Day of Resurrection [Al-Qiyaama: 1]

Ayat 2

And I swear by the reproaching soul1 [to the certainty of resurrection]. [Al-Qiyaama: 2]

Ayat 3

Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? [Al-Qiyaama: 3]

Ayat 4

Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. [Al-Qiyaama: 4]

Ayat 5

But man desires to continue in sin.1 [Al-Qiyaama: 5]

Ayat 6

He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" [Al-Qiyaama: 6]

Ayat 7

So when vision is dazzled. [Al-Qiyaama: 7]

Ayat 8

And the moon darkens. [Al-Qiyaama: 8]

Ayat 9

And the sun and the moon are joined, [Al-Qiyaama: 9]

Ayat 10

Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" [Al-Qiyaama: 10]

Ayat 11

No! There is no refuge. [Al-Qiyaama: 11]

Ayat 12

To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. [Al-Qiyaama: 12]

Ayat 13

Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead1 and kept back.2 [Al-Qiyaama: 13]

Ayat 14

Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,1 [Al-Qiyaama: 14]

Ayat 15

Even if he presents his excuses. [Al-Qiyaama: 15]

Ayat 16

Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān]. [Al-Qiyaama: 16]

Ayat 17

Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. [Al-Qiyaama: 17]

Ayat 18

So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. [Al-Qiyaama: 18]

Ayat 19

Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. [Al-Qiyaama: 19]

Ayat 20

No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate [Al-Qiyaama: 20]

Ayat 21

And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter. [Al-Qiyaama: 21]

Ayat 22

[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, [Al-Qiyaama: 22]

Ayat 23

Looking at their Lord.1 [Al-Qiyaama: 23]

Ayat 24

And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, [Al-Qiyaama: 24]

Ayat 25

Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. [Al-Qiyaama: 25]

Ayat 26

No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones1 [Al-Qiyaama: 26]

Ayat 27

And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" [Al-Qiyaama: 27]

Ayat 28

And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation [Al-Qiyaama: 28]

Ayat 29

And the leg is wound about the leg,1 [Al-Qiyaama: 29]

Ayat 30

To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.1 [Al-Qiyaama: 30]

Ayat 31

And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed. [Al-Qiyaama: 31]

Ayat 32

But [instead], he denied and turned away. [Al-Qiyaama: 32]

Ayat 33

And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride]. [Al-Qiyaama: 33]

Ayat 34

Woe to you, and woe! [Al-Qiyaama: 34]

Ayat 35

Then woe to you, and woe! [Al-Qiyaama: 35]

Ayat 36

Does man think that he will be left neglected?1 [Al-Qiyaama: 36]

Ayat 37

Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted? [Al-Qiyaama: 37]

Ayat 38

Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him] [Al-Qiyaama: 38]

Ayat 39

And made of him two mates, the male and the female. [Al-Qiyaama: 39]

Ayat 40

Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead? [Al-Qiyaama: 40]
